Barcade is a Philadelphia favorite unlike most others. Located on Frankford Avenue in a nondescript building vaguely resembling an old barn, Barcade is best know for its collection of dozens of old-school arcade games and pinball machines. Leave your quarters at home however, Barcade’s machines operate on Barcade tokens which you can get from their change machine.
Behind the bar is a startlingly large selection of craft beer on tap, which is rotated frequently to keep things interesting. Tap takeovers are frequent, truly making Barcade a destination for craft beer lovers.
Behind the bar is a small kitchen serving up tacos, sliders, sandwiches, and an assortment of appetizers and small plates. Mondays feature dollar tacos, which is probably the best lunch deal in Fishtown, if not Philadelphia.
If 70s and 80s nostalgia is up your alley, it’s hard to beat Barcade. The games will have you feeling like you are in an era where arcade cabinets ruled the demands of a night out. Be forewarned, however, as weekend nights get very busy and can make it difficult to get time on popular games like Pac-Man, and Donkey Kong.
