Pizza’s location may be familiar to some, as the home of the famous (infamous) Pizzeria Beddia – yes, the one where people reportedly waited in line for hours just to get a pie. But fear not – despite the similarity in location, Pizza Shackamaxon is a very different animal.
You’re still getting gourmet, made-to-order pizza, but there’s no waiting in line – Pizza makes two pies per hour, and reservations are taken online. Right now you make a reservation and then show up to place your order. Long term the plan is to improve the ordering process and allow customers to order and pay for their pie online. Obviously those who reserve a slot and don’t show up are preventing others from getting a pie (in additional to being a drain on business).
What many don’t realize is that it’s the location itself that prevents more pizzas from being made. They literally do not have the space to store any more ingredients.
If you can’t get a pie for some reason, you can still walk in off the street and grab some slices. That’s a huge difference, and a big advantage, especially if you don’t want a whole pizza, or are impatient and want your gooey, cheesy goodness now.
