About Palmer Park

Right in the heart of Fishtown at the intersection of Frankford Avenue, Columbia Street, and Palmer Street, Palmer Park is an oasis from the surrounding cityscape.

While it’s small in size, there’s plenty of space for dog walking, picnicking, outdoor games, and even throwing around the ole pigskin (Go Birds!). There are benches galore – both in the park and on the sidewalk adjacent to Frankford Avenue. This abundance of places to sit makes for excellent people watching.

The park is public and maintained by the Friends of Fishtown At Palmer Park, who host regular cleanup work days where locals contribute to making the park a friendlier place by raking and removing trash.

While Palmer Park is small, there are a few events that take place there.

Fishtown Beer Runners

The Fishtown Beer Runners are a Fishtown-based running club known for their charity work and community support. This grassroots running club meets in Palmer Park every Thursday night at 7pm for the start of their run, which ends at a different bar every week.

Annual Tree Lighting

While most of Palmer Park’s trees are deciduous, there’s at least one evergreen, which plays host to the annual tree lighting every December.

Clean Up Days

Clean up days occur every month, and on some occasions, are followed by a free BBQ at Philadelphia Brewing Company just north of the park on Frankford Avenue.
